We believe our prices are fair and straightforward and we offer a 12 MONTH GUARANTEE WITH FULL £2M INSURANCE COVER so you can rest assured you'll be happy from the moment the work is completed.
If you get several quotes for a job (as you should), be careful about what you pay. If you are tempted to go for the cheapest quote, ask why it's the cheapest. You'll get some interesting answers like 'We're cheapest because we don't have many overheads' - means 'we don't belong to a professional body and don't have insurance, so we can keep our costs down'. You pay your money and take your choice, as the saying goes!
Likewise, don't pay extortionate prices for specialised tradesman either when we can do the job at a fraction of the cost. We offer free advice anyway - just pick up the phone (07884 007202) - and we're happy to discuss any quotation you may have from others.
We have a flexible pricing structure for our domestic customers which works like this:
Small 'General Handyman' type jobs - say up to 3 hours
First hour £50Each subsequent hour £25
For a full day we charge £200. Prices are given on an hourly basis rather than per job with a one hour minimum charge. This way we can repair or install multiple things for you as well as keeping your costs to a minimum.
'Mini-projects' (which might be a mix of things) that may take 2 or 3 days, we usually charge at £175 per day - this gives you a rough idea of costs, but you'll need to add on about 10% to 15% for materials.
For bigger projects, like bathrooms and kitchen refitting taking a couple of weeks or more, we offer a fixed price quote, depending on the amount of work needed. For these jobs, we need to visit first. Usually we can keep the price to the quoted amount, but invariably sometimes we come across 'unknowns' so you should budget on having some extra contingency.
For Saturdays, emergency call outs & evening work after 6pm we charge a flat £50 per hour regardless of how many hours.
For Skilled Trades, like electrical inspection and testing, our rates reflect the costs of professional body membership, qualification and indemnity insurance. These are higher than those of a 'general handyman'.
Materials are charged at cost price (often trade prices) plus 20% - but you also get our free advice on what to choose if you want to buy items yourself. We need to cover our time and cost in getting items on your behalf.
For larger jobs an estimate can be provided - simply contact us and we will arrange a suitable time to visit.
No VAT is charged as we are not VAT registered. Parking charges are met by the customer. Also, we do not dispose of waste ourselves but we will dispose of waste via a licensed Waste Disposal company if you need this service.
Payment
We prefer payment by electronic Bank Transfer, usually paid on finishing the job, direct into our commercial account. We will accept cash for small jobs (and cheques, but on rare occasions). We do not ask for payment up front except perhaps on a really large project as it helps our cash flow. On completion, we provide you with a proper invoice with a 7 day payment period. This also acts as a 'date stamp' for purposes of our 12 month guarantee.
