That's what Pete Bingham, the founder of Handiworx, thinks about his customers.
"Companies who treat their customers with respect win respect from their customers. Too many people get a shoddy service and no industry is more abundant with rogue traders than the home maintenance market. We aim to be different".
For a most people, it can be very difficult and time-consuming to get someone to do a variety of fixing jobs in their property - fit a set of taps, or put up a set of shelves, or put up a few new tiles in the bathroom. You either had to do it yourself, or pay someone the best part of £100 an hour to do it for you (and they would often turn up late, try and charge you for things you don't want and spend a fair bit of on their mobile phone chatting to someone else at your expense).
Handiworx doesn't work that way. We may get a list of jobs from a customer that we'll plough through in a day or half a day. You won't find us skimming over a job just to get to the next appointment fast ... we take our time to give you the best possible service and leave you feeling happy.
You'd be pushed to find anyone better!
Over a varied career in Corporate business Pete has learnt that just about any problem has a solution. There is a lot of skill needed in finding the best solution to a problem ... and this applies equally well to home maintenance just as it does in big business. Employed as a Sales Director, he came to question the poor customer-facing skills of the typical tradesman when contemplating extending his own property. So he set up Handiworx.
That was in October 2006.
Underpinning the various specialist skills is a belief that customers prefer to deal with one reliable company who can take everything on board rather than several not-so-reliable ones or separate tradespeople.
“Everyday my customers show me examples of poor and shoddy workmanship. Most of my customers wish they had found Handiworx earlier. If a job is done badly then it's money down the drain. I will always strive to keep my customers happy and will go the extra 20% to get the best possible job done”.
